The Coalition for a Tobacco Free Vermont supports smoke free policies that reduce exposure to secondhand smoke.  According the United States Surgeon General, there is no safe level of secondhand smoke exposure.  Even occasional exposure to secondhand smoke causes damage.  The latest Surgeon General report on smoking and health concluded that secondhand smoke can cause strokes in nonsmokers.  Smoke free laws include policies that restrict smoking in indoor areas such as restaurants and hotels, as well as smoke free workplace policies and smoke free college policies.
